Populous: The Beginning Download
Populous: The Beginning, a.k.a. Populous 3, is a real-time strategy experience that pits your skills against sophisticated AI in 3D. You'll have to work with both people and buildings to create specialized defenses in order to succeed. Remember to keep your people happy, and they will reward you with "Mana," which powers your spells (including Lightning, Plague, Hypnotize, Firestorm, Flatten, and Earthquake). The game features nice 3D graphics that rotate easily and smoothly, showing you the view from all angles, and gameplay occurs on a globe instead of a flat surface. The demo version features three complete single-player levels, one multiplayer level (via modem, IPX, and Internet), and a detailed tutorial to get you up to speed. 3D hardware acceleration is fully supported, although the game runs fine in software-rendered mode.
