Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time

Prince of Persia: The original Prince of Persia, developed by Jordan Mechner, sold over 2 million copies (impressive figure considering the fact that not many people owned PCs during that time.) This didn't work out with the update, popularly known as Prince of Persia 2. Full Review

Game Review

Battlefield 1942

World War II… In recent times, there have been several FPS’s based on events from The Great War. Battlefield 1942 is a team-oriented multiplayer game

BF 1942 - Secret Weapons Of WWIIG

An expansion pack is a release that features extra levels, weapons and gameplay that add to the original game. It is not a stand alone product, which means that you will need a copy of the original game to play it.

Blood Rayne

Blood Rayne is a Dhampir, the daughter of a human mother who was raped by a vampire. This gives her all the strengths of a vampire no human can match - Super strength, enhanced vision, greater mobility, and almost none of the weakness. Almost, because she still needs to drink human blood to survive…

Colin McRae Rally 3

Colin McRae Rally 3 is the best rally driving game out there. Period. Now that we’ve got THAT out of the way let’s examine what makes the game so good, and what drags it down in parts. Let’s take to the Road with the Flying Scotsman!

Conflict - Desert Storm II

Conflict: Desert Storm II is the latest in a long line of military-based FPS’s that gives you weapons, assigns you a team and tasks you with something simple, like saving the civilised world as we know it. This specific FPS is set at the height of the 1991 Gulf War.

Crime Scene Invstigation

Crime Scene Investigation is one of the top TV series in America, about a forensics team that collects evidence at crime scenes, which it then uses to try and solve the case. This game features the actual characters and settings from the TV series.

Delta Force - Black Hawk Down

Delta Force: Black Hawk Down is the best Delta Force game to date. Unfortunately, that’s not saying much as the previous versions in this series were an exercise in frustration. Let’s examine how this game stands up against the rest of the titles out there.

Dungeons & Dragons - Welcome to the Temple of Elemental

There’s reason to rejoice for those hardcore RPG fans that have been chomping at the bit for a game that takes advantage of the new Advanced Dungeon & Dragon 3.5 rules. Welcome to the Temple of Elemental Evil.

Freelancer

Freelancer is a game that’s been years in the making and faced several delays. Development on the game was started in 1997! Microsoft bought Digital Anvil in 2000 and since then has been polishing the game for release. We ran it through its paces…

I.G.I. 2 - Covert Strike

The original Project IGI: I’m Going In, released by EA in 2001, was a flawed beauty. It featured stealth, realistic weapons, modern-day conflicts and a robust engine but….But, but, but... The game was crippled by horrendous A.I., lack of in-game saves and a high level of difficulty.

Indy Car Series

By the time you read this Michael Schumacher will have won his 6th GP title. If speed is your thing, F1 simulations are a dime-a-dozen both on the consoles and the PC. However, Indy racing league games are few and far between while good Indy games are practically non-existent. Enter Codemasters and Brain in a Jar.

Lionheart - Legacy of the Crusader

Any avid RPG player will be familiar with the past work of Black Isle Studios. Game such as PlaneScape: Torment, Fallout, Baldur's gate & Icewind Dale have shaped the genre and given it direction. Lionheart is the latest title from Black Isle, an RPG that takes place in an alternate world.

LOTR - Return of the King

The Return of the King is a third-person action/adventure based on the final movie in the Lord of the Rings trilogy. Initially, the game gives you the choice of playing as Gandalf, Aragorn, Legolas, Gimli, Sam or Frodo. After completing the game once you can also play as Merry, Pippin and Faramir.

Madden 2004

The Madden football series is presently in its 14th year. Needless to say, Electronic Arts has mastered the art of creating a great football sim. Madden 2003 was the best football game released last year on the PC or console. Surprisingly, last years PC version actually had a few extras such as the ability to accelerate the game clock.

Mafia - The Godfather

The God father. Perhaps the first truly epic film I saw as a child. Ever since then I’ve always wanted to be a part of the Mafia, live the mysterious life of the underworld. Thanks to my criminal tendencies, I was a lonely child. I always dreamt on in secret, though! Let me introduce you to the game that made my dreams come true.

Microsoft Flight Simulator 2004, A Century of Flight

Flight Simulator 2004, the latest release in the Flight Simulator series, celebrates a century of flight starting from the first powered flight in December 1903 by the Wright Brothers to the present day jet aircraft. We bring you our impressions.

Max Payne 2

Max Payne 2 is a breathtaking ride filled with slow-motion sequences, blazing guns, cutting-edge graphics and the corniest dialogue you’ll ever hear this side of the Great Wall. The story is just an excuse to propel Max from one level to the other, using bullet time to rack up a body count that would make Sunny Deol proud.
Moto GP 2

There’s nothing quite like racing along at over 200 km/hr on your Honda NSR 500. Unfortunately most of us neither have a superbike nor access to good enough roads to reach 200 km/hr. Thank God for video games!

Nascar Thunder 2003

The NASCAR Racing series from Papyrus has consistently been at the top of its genre. EA Sports tries to reproduce a little of that magic in its NASCAR Thunder 2003. Tries… and fails. Let us examine the wreck…This is the annual update to the NASCAR Thunder series for the console, but its first release on the PC.

Racing Simulation 3

There are maybe twenty or thirty people in the entire world that can drive F1 cars well. For the rest of us, there are simulations like RS3, where you get to race a F1 monster on 16 demanding circuits. This game is not officially licensed and so you will not find any real-world tracks or drivers.

Republic - The Revolution

There are maybe twenty or thirty people in the entire world that can drive F1 cars well. For the rest of us, there are simulations like RS3, where you get to race a F1 monster on 16 demanding circuits. This game is not officially licensed and so you will not find any real-world tracks or drivers.

Rogue Spear Platinum

Rogue Spear is the award winning, highly successful sequel to Rainbow Six (R6). We had an in depth review of R6 in our last issue and as both games are based on the same engine and have similar game play, I will be concentrating mainly on the improvements in this version of Red Storm’s tactical shooter.

Splinter Cell

The balance of power is in your hands, as cyber terrorism and international tensions are about to explode into WW III. You have the Fifth Freedom, the freedom to kill, kidnap, steal, spy, assassinate and destroy in order to preserve the other four freedoms American civilians take for granted...freedom of speech, freedom of worship, freedom from want and freedom from fear.

Star Trek - Elite Force II

There are a few unwritten rules in the gaming universe. One of the oldest was that all games with a Star Trek theme suck. No exception. Unless you were a rabid Trekkie who thought that ST: The Next Gen was a brilliant program, chances are you hated every Trek-based game out there.

Star Wars- Knights of the Old Republic

Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic is set in the Golden Age, over 4,000 years before the first Star Wars film. At this tumultuous time when both Jedi and evil Sith number in the thousands, the Galaxy is still reeling from a recent conflict with the Dark Lords.

Terminator 3
Take a game like Battlefield 1942. Rip out all the fun, all the brilliant design decisions that made it a great game. Remove the great maps and take away all the constant support offered by the developers. Now set the game in the future. Do this and you have Terminator 3: War of the Machines.

The Great Escape

In the last few years, the once fragile link between Hollywood and the gaming world has strengthened considerably. More often than not, summer blockbusters are released alongside their video game adaptations. The only problem with this scenario is that the game is rushed through development in order to coincide its release with that of the movie. This results in fractured or incomplete gameplay as can be seen in Enter the Matrix or Wolverine’s Revenge.

Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six 3 - Raven Shield

Rainbow Six: Raven Shield is the third version of the award winning Rainbow Six series. For those of you familiar with Team Rainbow, lets move on. This is a tactical shooter, which means the game-play is ultra realistic. No in-game saves. Also, a shot to the head WILL kill you and you won’t survive more than two or three shots to your body.

Tomb Raider - The Angel Of Darkness

I still remember the release of Tomb Raider. It was a gaming revolution! Gamers were still considered geeks, but now we had access to one of the most…um, developed characters in the gaming universe. Eidos followed with a sequel next year, which was still good, but used the same technology.

Vietcong

Vietnam was one of America’s greatest defeats. In ‘Nam, death was always lurking behind the next tree, after the next hill. Pterodon have tried to make a realistic shooter that mirrored the atmosphere of tension; their aim was to immerse gamers into the experience of being a soldier in the war.

Warcraft III

It has been nearly fifteen years since the war between the Orcs and Humans ended. An uneasy peace settled over the land while, for years, the drums of war were silent. Yet the kingdoms of men grew complacent in their victory - and slowly, the defeated Orcish clans regrouped under the banner of a new visionary leader.

Wolverine's Revenge

For all of us out there with nothing to do these vacations there’s a new job open... You get to play the world’s most dangerous mutant, face impossible odds and fight unbeatable enemies. Interested? X2: Wolverine's Revenge allows players to assume the role of Wolverine for the X-Box, PS 2 and PC.
