The plot is well written and the interface is brilliant. You start out as a recruit, with the first mission being a tutorial where you work with the head of your unit, Grissom. Your mouse controls all the functions in the game. At the bottom of your screen, you have ‘Locations’, ‘Tools’ & ‘Case File’. Location lets you move from the crime scene to various locations like the lab and the morgue.
Tools gives you access to your forensic equipment like fingerprint dusters, magnifying scopes and UV lights. Clues are found by inspecting each area thoroughly; if you come across a clue, the cursor turns green. File has all the information at your disposal. When you collect all the evidence, you have to take it to the lab for analysis. Once you've solved the crime, Grissom gives you a review of your performance. The more clues you discover, the higher your rating. If you ask for hints, points are deducted from your score. Depending on your total, you are given a few extras to enjoy, like game concept art.
The graphics of the game are acceptable. The audio is well done with great voice acting and realistic music and sound effects. Bear in mind that the game features some gameplay containing adult themes and violence meant for mature audiences only! Unfortunately, there are only five cases to solve which take about five to six hours to complete. Although this game has low replay value, it is a good choice for a gaming beginner or a CSI fan.
HIGHS: Great stories, Superb voice acting.
LOWS: Short gameplay, Low replay value.
NUTSHELL: Reasonably priced
