Racing Simulation 3

Racing Simulation 3 Review

There are maybe twenty or thirty people in the entire world that can drive F1 cars well. For the rest of us, there are simulations like RS3, where you get to race a F1 monster on 16 demanding circuits. This game is not officially licensed and so you will not find any real-world tracks or drivers.

However most of the tracks are the same in layout as the original tracks, for e.g. the New Zealand track is actually Albert Park in Australia.
As in most simulations, you have the options to fiddle with your car…change the gear ratios, tires, angles… Single player has the normal options - Single Race lets you choose weather, number of opponents etc, Full Race is identical expect for a qualification session.

Championship lets you race a whole season, Time Trial lets you attack your best times while Private Trials lets you test your car. Besides these, the PC version features a brand new scenario mode which puts you in the middle of a race with certain goals to complete. For example, you might be placed 14th in the grid and be tasked with coming third overall. The console versions do not have the scenario mode but do have a driving school. If multiplayer is your thing, you can play the PC version over LAN (Local Area Network) or on the net.

The graphics are average. The sound is patchy in parts with the engines sometimes sounding like underpowered lawn-mowers! This game does not look or sound as good as its competitors. If you have a fast computer then buy Grand Prix 4. However, if it is slightly old, then this is the best Grand Prix game you can get.

HIGHS: Low System Requirements, New Scenario Mode.
LOWS: Bad Sounds, Average Graphics.
NUTSHELL: Good Effort.
Christof Rating: 82 %
